Anthiriums

Anthuriums

in a similar way to orchids, grow naturally in warm equatorial regions of the planet. Anthuriums look delicate, but their blooms in fact are quite tough, not easy to damage or bruise and relatively simple to grow as a pot plant here in the UK. Anthuriums generally last longer than most other cut flowers and are a popular choice with our florists here at Eden4flowers.co.uk. Our florists use Anthuriums exstensively in creating luxury bouquets for our clients for UK wide delivery.

At Eden4flowers.co.uk we use a wide selection of Anthuriums, from the Lime Green Pistache to varieties in dramatic pinks, chocolate brown, cream, red and maroon. Anthuriums grow in a range of forms, colours and shades, mostly evergreen, bushy or climbing plants - epiphytes with roots that can hang from the canopy all the way to the floor in a rain forest. There are many terrestrial forms known as understory plants, as well as hemiepiphytic types. A hemiepiphyte plant is capable of beginning life from seed, sending roots into soil, or as a terrestrial plant climbing trees, sending roots back to the soil as it ascends.

Several Anthurium species are popular in the florist trade as pot plants or cut flowers and for interior decoration. They include forms such as Anthurium crystallinum peltifolium with its large, velvety, darkgreen leaves and silvery white venation. Most hybrids are based on Anthurium andreanum or Anthurium scherzerianum because of their colorful spathes. Anthurium can also be called "Flamingo Flower" or "Boy Flower", both referring to the structure of the spathe and spadix.
